Real Estate Agents Authority

Sections R Us is a licensed real estate agent under the Real Estate Agents Act 2008.

The independent Real Estate Agents Authority will play a key role in ensuring the quality and professionalism of the industry.
It will:

  • Provide a new code of professional conduct and client care for agents, branch managers and salespersons
  • Oversee licensing of all real estate agents, branch managers and salespersons
  • Provide information for consumers
  • Investigate complaints.

Code of Professional Conduct and Client Care

In developing the Code, the Authority has drawn on best practice in occupational regulation in New Zealand and internationally. It sets out the standard of professional conduct and client care required of agents, branch managers and salespersons. The Code applies to all aspects of real estate agency work and will be used as a reference point for discipline.

The Code covers:

  • Standards of professional competence and conduct
  • Reporting misconduct or unsatisfactory conduct
  • Awareness of duties and obligations under the Act
  • Client care and dealings with customers
  • Obligations to provide information about complaints.
